1.10.2011: Josh Rouse – “Flight Attendant”

I finally watched Eat, Pray, Love this past weekend. Since I really didn’t like the book, I wasn’t surprised that I didn’t really enjoy the movie other than they used Josh Rouse’s track “Flight Attendant” off his album “1972″ and the scenery made me want to travel more (especially internationally).

1.11.2011: Guster – “Do You Love Me”

Here we go again. Last year when I moved offices, my commute was shortened to be about a song long and I decided to post a song for every morning commute. I’ve long enjoyed introducing friends to new music, and decided this was a good way in lieu of making mix cds. So, I used Twitter/Facebook to posts these “morning commute songs” throughout the year and initially I was posting a weekly summary here. Well, that didn’t last long and honestly I’m not sure how long I’ll keep up with it this year, but if at first you don’t succeed…

Luke Reynolds – “Better Off”

I was first introduced to Reynolds’ music via Paste Magazine (Issue 46 sampler) which included his Pictures and Sound song “It’s You.” While I liked the song, I never followed up on checking out the entire album. The reintroduction happened last year when Reynolds joined Guster and also self-released his own album “Maps.” I’ve since picked up both which currently occupy slots #1 and #2 in the Smurf’s cd changer. You’ll have to mosey on over to Reynolds’ website to give “Better Off” a listen, but trust me, it’s worth it (the whole album is). I thought this was a good choice to kick the year off, what with everyone making resolutions that you’ve probably already broken. For me, one of them is to purge my house of so much useless stuff before I end up on an episode of “Hoarders.” Hey, at least I finally recycled those two boxes of notes/binders from college that were in unopened boxes from my move to Cali from Butte back in ’99.
