While only Wednesday, it has been a doozy of a week but mercifully I have to survive only more more day until I board a plane for out west. Sure, there are a lot of other California cities one might select when going for a weekend trip, but my destination is Bakersfield. Why you ask? This is why.
.:. Finally get to pinch this little girl's cheeks. .:. Also get to hang out with her parents. .:. Get to see Near Miss Mallet play at Dagny's. .:. Hopefully see a few other friends at the show. .:. Screw Tex-Mex, I get to dine at La Costa. .:. Trader Joe's - if you've never heard of it, you have no idea what you are missing. .:. Topography- I won't call them mountains but it'll be nice to see some visible elevation changes. .:. Spin the globe - it was a tradition to take visitors to the Hogan globe, so I might have to give it one more spin.
I don't think you pinched her cheeks, did you? :) Also, what is this globe you write of? Glad to have you here, but it did feel like the shortest visit ev-ar.
No, I'm not really a cheek pincher, but I get to smear food all over her face. That was fun.
The globe is down by the Amtrack station next to the Beall Library. The spinning tradition is something Kathy Hogan started, and ironically the name on the globe is Hogan Family or Foundation.
The visit did feel way short, but that just means I'll have to come out again. Sorry we didn't get any family portrait time.
