27: How do you say "I do not like green eggs and ham" in French?
Drive By Sunset. Along I-5 in CA. 11.27.2005
Two years ago today I was driving back to Bakersfield from spending Thanksgiving visiting friends in Eugene, OR and Olympia, WA. Along the way, I was listening to the book on tape cd A Year in the Merde which is about an Englishman living in France. Having listened to nearly the whole book in one sitting driving, I dreamed that night I could speak French, which I can't.
In a much different vein, this morning I finished listening to Under the Banner of Heaven that I borrowed from a friend. I've enjoyed reading Krakauer's other books (Into the Wild and Into Thin Air) and had been meaning to read this one, but my reading activity has been a bit lagging lately. Listening to the book, I realized that I didn't know that much about the Mormon faith. At least now I know why those neighbors had a stockpile of canned goods in their garage. Still, if a couple missionaries come ringing my obnoxious church-bell-like doorbell, I'm going to pretend I'm not home. It wouldn't be the first time.
Alan and I listened to Under the Banner of Heaven around the time his converted Mormon sister got married. Enlightening to say the least. And we also either read or listened to Into the Wild together. Someone at our party last night mentioned Into the Wild was made into a movie.
We have a Colorado City about 90 minutes east from Midland. Never understood that!
